January 2012
Hovering high above a church dome on a January Sunday morning with a priest isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a GSM Roofing team. But, when the 11th hour call came in to take over roof installation and repair project and stop a stubborn leak in the dome of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, GSM took the challenge and committed to getting the job done for the scheduled dedication.
After numerous attempts by the roofing contractor first hired to do the job, Horst Construction made the decision to call upon the expertise of GSM Roofing. Armed with years of experience, and a blessing or two from above, the GSM team stepped in to install the new roofing system and finish the work the original contractor could not.
Despite the extremely tight timetable and the pressure knowing iconographers from Greece were in flight to Montgomery County, to paint the iconic murals on the ceiling of the domes, GSM relied on its skill and proven expertise to quickly resolve the leak.

“We needed an experienced company to help us out in a pinch and you guys jumped at the challenge and got it done for us. The client is very pleased with the workmanship of the final product. GSM is a high class operation and I am so glad to have been able to work with you on this project.”
Scott Burkholder, Project Manager, Horst Construction
In the end, GSM and Reverend Father Peter Thornberg ascended to the top of the dome to bless and install the crosses that serve as the crowning glory of the new church. For GSM, some days just don’t get any better than that.
Thanks Delores. Also, it was a pleasure dealing with Jeff on this. He was great on the phone in explaining the issues and was very proactive.
