We took on an extensive project to refurbish the roof of the historic Ben Franklin Dining Hall at F&M College. We also repaired tears in the membrane roof and installed watertight termination points to ensure lasting protection.

Over the years, we’ve provided general maintenance and repairs for roofing on the property. When the mansion roof needed replacement in 2019, we had to balance new materials with old-world craftsmanship to preserve the mansion’s historical integrity and increase the roof’s life expectancy.
Preserving the church’s historical integrity was important to the congregation. So, we restored the historic roof, originally built in 1805, using North Country Black Slate with clipped corners to match the existing roof. And the new slate roof is designed to last 100 years.
Paul Risk Construction repaired the leaning steeple at St Stephen Reformed Church. But GSM Roofing was called on to install a lead-coated flat seam roofing system to the base of the lantern, including custom-made urns and figurines. Additionally, GSM Industrial created a new spire for the steeple, which was fitted with a lead-coated standing seam roofing system before being put into place.
This challenging project involved a full roof tear-off, installing tapered insulation and white EPDM, and replacing all existing rooftop units. Additionally, GSM installed custom storefront metal siding and trim as well as two Velux Modular Skylight Bays.

I did get a chance to inspect the roof of this church last week. There was no damage to the roof, it is actually in quite good condition since it was installed in the late 80’s or early 90’s. The leaks they are experiencing are at the flashing transitions to the stone masonry and one at a brick masonry chimney.
But I did want to tell you that I was very impressed with Austin, the young fellow that ran the lift for me. I am not sure I have ever had such a smooth and accurately-placed ride. It wasn’t the highest roof I ever had to look at, and maybe the equipment rental was newer, but still, it was refreshing to see the competence of that young fellow.
